LANwise for
TCP/IP
LANwise for TCP/IP provides
connectivity between the Clearpath/A
Series and a TCP/IP network.
TCP/IP is the protocol of choice in multi-vendor networks today. Until
now, A Series customers had to install CP2000s, BNAv2 and a gateway
implementation of TCP/IP if they wanted support for TCP/IP. With
LANwise for TCP/IP, the A Series can now support multi-vendor
networks without BNAv2 or CP2000s.
Upstanding is the only company to offer a native implementation of the
TCP/IP for the A Series. Besides eliminating the need for BNA v2
and CP2000s, a native implementation offers the user scalability
and ease-of-use. The throughput of the networking is still as
simple as possible. There is little that must be configured,
and that is done through easy-to-use menus.
There is
no need to contend with BNA OI commands, NCF, NAU
translation libraries, and so on. It is not even necessary to define the
hosts that require access to the A Series.
For those users accustomed to other TCP/IP implementations,
configuration and network diagnostics are even easier. LANwise for
TCP/IP allows you to use the existing host configuration file form your
Unix or PC host; there's no need to create another file. PING is included
to test your network connections.
By having
a consistent architecture, the LANwise products allow an A
Series, with the same ASAP, and the same LAN, to support multiple
protocols. With LANwise for NetWare, Upstanding allows the A Series to
communicate with all the other computers in your enterprise.
In addition to the basic TCP/IP transports, Upstanding offers the standard
TCP/IP applications:
FTP for
file transfer, Telnet for terminal connections, and LPR/LPD for network
printing. An XTI-compatible API plus an A Series station to sockets
mapping feature are also available for the development of client/server
applications.
LANwise for NetWare
LANwise for NetWare provides
connectivity between the A Series and
nodes on a NetWare LAN.
LANwise for NetWare is the only native implementation of NetWare
protocols for the A Series. It is the easiest, most cost-effective means
of connecting PCs to A Series. It is fully compatible with NetWare in both
local-area and enterprise-wide situations. In particular, NetBIOS is not
required. Because no front-end processor or proprietary protocol is
required, LANwise for NetWare does not have a restriction on the number of
sessions that can be supported.
